A House Extension and Refurbishment of a Residential property in Woking

Flowitt Architects were pleased to be commissioned for the full refurbishment and build of an extension for this stunning building dating back to the 1920s, which has been in the family for generations.

This building has been in construction for two years, from 2013, before finishing in 2015. The newly installed stairs were even designed by the late Richard Flowitt himself, constructed from his own drawings.

The full refurbishment of the property included stripping back the floor and the beams, and restoring the roof with as many of the original tiles as could be found. Where the originals weren’t available, tiles were sourced to match as closely as possible.

All of these touches ensured the house kept its charming authentic character, whilst the conversion of the kitchen and dining room, to an open planned kitchen, has given the building a modernised feel suitable to facilitate contemporary family life.

A new Utility and Dining room were also created in order to achieve a less fragmented feel to the downstairs, and the master bedroom was enlarged to include a luxurious walk in wardrobe and en-suite bathroom.

Flowitt has succeeded in creating a modern living space within this property whilst ensuring it retains its classic appearance
