Marco Portinaro Dott Arch, ARB, RIBA

Architect

Marco is a Chartered Architect for Flowitt Architects who joined in 2015, from working free-lance in Italy. He is responsible for the day to day Architectural design and planning elements within the Practice. He is an intricate creative designer, experienced in unlocking difficult planning constraints and complex internal layout plans, and then shaping these into practical and elegant solutions.

Some of the projects for which Marco has been responsible for:

  • Court-appointed expert – Court of Justice of Turin – Investigation and evaluation of real estates for judicial sales: flats, detached houses, offices… Expert of the party in legal actions.
  •  Free-lance Architect from 2008 to 2015 – Design and Construction supervision. Surveys and drawings. Refurbishment. Houses, flats, especially private clients (jobs from about £ 30.000 to £ 250.000). Assessing of property and production of Energy Performance Certificates – EPC (Italy).
  •  MGI luxury group, lounge in Baselworld (World Watch and jewellery Show in Basel – Switzerland) 2014 – Detailed design and working drawings for Bodino Engineering of Turin.
  •  Hi-tech System directional center in Leinì (TO) semi-structural glass façade and skylight – Detailed design and working drawings. A concept of Arch. Marco Verrando. Building Award winner. (about £ 200.000 glass and steel structures)
  •  Assistant Project Manager for Merlo S.r.l. company – Detailed design, structural calculation, working drawings, solar lighting and shading analysis for dimensioning, production and positioning of sun louver. Design of a new support for photovoltaic louver (jobs from about £ 5.000 to £ 250.000)
  •  Project Manager for Gstramandinoli S.n.c. company. Surveys, detailed design, order and supplying of materials (particularly glass and extruded alu for windows), working drawings, managing the assembling and inspection of work on-site of  extruded aluminum windowing, structural and semi-structural glass façades, light steel or aluminum structures. (jobs from about £ 30.000 to £ 1m)
  •   Architect Assistant for AR.CO. company – Arch. Gualtiero Sibona (Turin – Italy) – Architectural drawings, 3D drawings, and assistance to the architect. Luxury houses, swimming pools and wellness center. (jobs from about £ 20.000 to £ 500.000)
  •  Architect Assistant for Arch. Mario Virano & Arch. Viviana Riccato (Turin – Italy). Medium scale residential developments and architectural parts of a large  underground parking (-jobs from about 500.000£ £ 13m)

SAM CANSELL

Part 1 Architectural Assistant

Sam is a Part 1 Architectural Assistant responsible for developing projects from both a design and technical point of view. Once a project has been handed over by a senior partner his responsibility is to design a scheme that works for the client’s needs through the stages of work.

He is also responsible for completing drawings; from feasibility drawings, planning schemes and technical drawings, and issuing to clients for feedback and approval and also liaising with contractors and consultants. Sam graduated from Portsmouth University in 2014 and started his placement at Flowitt to gain his experiences needed to go on to becoming an Architect, which he hopes to achieve in the near future.

He is self -motivated and always gets stuck into his work to complete to the best of his ability and to achieve the highest standard possible. He has a flare for Architecture and works well in a team to complete projects.

DAVID BANKS

Architectural Technologist

David is a Senior Partner at Flowitt Architects and is responsible for the management and daily running of the Practice.

David joined the Practice as a senior architectural technologist in 2006 and is now a partner following on from working on a variety of projects at Modern Design Group.

He has gained Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists (CIAT) as an Associate.

He is involved with both acting as lead consultant to developers and in the management of schemes for private clients. The extent of schemes includes delivering co-ordinated drawn information to the design team, chairing design team meetings and co-ordinating detailed construction solutions and successfully running JCT contracts.

Since joining Richard Flowitt Partnership, David has been the Technical and on site coordinator for the majority of the projects within the company.

David is an energetic and creative enabler with substantial construction experience, he enjoys driving projects.

Some of the projects David has been involved with and has been responsible for include:

  • Working/Construction drawings and onsite supervision for the new bedroom wing and reception together with major refurbishment at The Meath Epilepsy Trust in Godalming
  • Key site Complex Godalming New build luxury development of flats and penthouses.
  • Impetus Golf and Leisure
  • New Surrey Downs Golf Club House
  • Lythe Hill Hotel, Haslemere
  • New swimming pool and health complex
  • West Hill School Leatherhead
  • New extensions and refurbishment of CDT and music rooms.

JAMES MILLARD

Architectural Technician

James is an Associate at Flowitt Architects and is responsible for the management of the technical team members and solely responsible for the issue of technical and contract related information.

After graduating from Southampton Solent University with a BA Honours Degree, in Architectural Technology, he has gained Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists (CIAT) as an Associate.

He is involved with both acting as lead consultant to developers and in the management of schemes for private clients. The extent of schemes includes delivering co-ordinated drawn information to the design team, chairing design team meetings and co-ordinating detailed construction solutions and successfully running JCT contracts.

James is a highly self-motivated Architectural Technologist with 10 years experience of working in an architectural practice on a variety of projects, covering high end residential, education and commercial schemes; with particular emphasis on producing excellently presented working drawings packages for schemes of varying size and complexity, for both developers and individual clients.

JANET DAVIDSON

Office and Financial Administrator

Janet Joined Richard Flowitt Chartered Architects from a large architectural practice in Richmond where she worked as a team secretary and Senior Secretary. She gained detailed knowledge of the secretarial work in an architectural practice and its particular requirements.

Over the years with us she has provided a strong supporting role which has developed and grown from the initial typing and answering the telephone into a full office managerial capacity. Her duties include all secretarial duties for the team including all contract administration forms, book keeping and accounts.

She is the first friendly contact for all our clients.
